Documentary and social photography: making the invisible visible

"I am a discreet witness. My camera does not steal images, it collects them like one picks up a forgotten object."

For more than 15 yearsI observe, capture and reveal what society prefers to ignore: les invisibles. My work, at the crossroads of documentary photography andsocial engagement, was born of my double course : photographer and manager at the Local Mission of Haute-Garonne. This experience taught me to see beyond appearances,to capture authenticity of people I photograph.

My approach is minimalist and timeless : the black and white is not an aesthetic choice, but a need.He simplifies the image to retain only the essential elements - the shapes, the emotions, the contrasts between light and shadow.

My Artistic Approach

A Committed Photograph

My photography is a bridge between art and society. It does not simply show: it questions, disturbs, and invites reflection.

  • Patient observation: I walk the streets, park benches, living spaces, and I stop where others pass. My subjects don't pose – they live, and it is this authenticity that I seek to capture.
  • The search for humanity: I reveal what society prefers to ignore, without accusing, without idealizing. Simply showing.
  • Black and white: Not an aesthetic choice, but a conceptual one. It allows us to transcend reality to reach a deeper truth.

Why Black and White?

“Color distracts. Black and white, on the other hand, reveals the soul of things.”

  • Purification: It removes distractions to focus on emotion and structure.
  • Timelessness: It gives my images a universal, timeless dimension.
  • Symbolism: The contrast between light and shadow reflects the duality of existence – visible/invisible, present/absent.

The Project

SILHOUETTES is a photographic trilogy who explores three ages of social invisibility :

Wandering Carelessness Childhood and its fleeting freedom.

Silhouettes of the Present Absent : Old age, often erased from view.

Parisian silhouettes : Urban anonymity, where the individual blends into the crowd.

Each series is a chapter of the same story: that of our own trajectory, where we are all, at some point, silhouettes for someone else.

1️⃣ Wandering Carelessness

“Childhood is that time when the body and mind break free from rules. Children occupy space without restraint, as if the world belonged to them. Yet, this freedom is only an illusion: it disappears with adulthood, giving way to constraint and oblivion.”

2️⃣ Silhouettes of Those Present and Absent

“At the other end of life, the elderly become living ghosts. Physically present, they are often absent from memories, conversations, and glances. These portraits are not a denunciation, but a revelation: that of an existence that resists, despite indifference.”

3️⃣ Parisian Silhouettes

“In the bustle of cities, the individual is reduced to a shadow among shadows. Paris, with its monuments and crowds, is the ideal stage for this disappearance. Between solitude and poetry, these images question our place in the urban bustle: are we actors or spectators of our own lives?”
